Sermon Series for the next few months at Gerrard Street

Over the next few months at Gerrard Street, there are some great sermon series to look forward to. Reaching out with the good news is one of the great blessings of being a Christian. How beautiful are the feet of him who brings good news. And we will be considering some practical approaches to how we can be effective in reaching out in our Morning Service messages between now and the summer.

Following this, a short series looking at the Life of Elijah will be followed by a fresh look at one of the most remarkable chapters in the Bible: Romans 8. Entitled “Life in the Spirit”, this series has the potential to help Christians fully enter into the freedom and life and sonship and glory and security that only the Spirit can bring into our lives.

In the evenings, we begin with the series of “Big Questions” as voted by members of Mobilise including sex, predestination, postmodernism, a Christian approach to politics and (the winner) “Men and Women- are they from Venus and Mars”.

During June, preachers will have a free choice in the evening services. I felt that it would be good to have a short period where our preaching team can bring what God has been laying on their hearts.

Last summer, we concluded the Psalms and this summer we will start again looking at the first eight of the great hymns of the ancient church.

So an exciting line up of Old and New Testament, topical themes and straight biblical expositions, historical passages and didactic passages. I’m looking forward to it!
